Deep sea fishing is great year around in Steinhatchee. Your will catch grouper, snapper, amberjack, sheepshead, cobia and kingfish. March is the best month for sheepshead; 15 minute boat ride. Sheepshead are a fun fishery to add to an offshore adventure. The latter part of April through June everything starts hopping. Kingfish, Spanish mackerel, cobia join the offshore menu. Fishing remains great in the summer and peaks in the fall.

The THRILL trip is designed to be a memory making charter. The hunt for big fish. A sportsman's trip targeting a variety of large fish, not restricted to a single species. The excursion is planned against extended 'boat rides' in leu of frequent 'opportunity' shots on the voyage out, as well as, the journey back to port. During the day you may test your skills and endurance tangling with brutish cobia and amberjack, rocketing kingfish or barracuda, freight training grouper, or the back straining pull of jewfish and sharks weighing 200 pounds or greater. Our boat, a 32' Twin Vee is a center console with 12' beam powered by twin 250hp Suzuki's, is extremely versatile.

The 360 degree fishability of the boat allows us to employ a gamut of fishing techniques, some of which are quite unique. While you're enjoying fishing, a seminar will be going on around you; if you're not careful you may learn something. The THRILL trip developed from the captains zeal for fishing and his efforts to introduce folk to alternative fisheries and new techniques. He started off by taking an hour out the charter to do something 'different'. The response was positive to the point of "why didn't we do this all day?" It is an interesting and active day of sportfishing rewarding you not only with some delicious fillets, but an opportunity to enroll in a hands on fishing school while making a memory. We want you to leave with a fresh appreciation of sportfishing.

Hump Day Special: Wednesdays only, we will take individual reservations for a full day offshore. We average 4-6 people on these trips, but it is guaranteed to go even if there is just one person. A lot of people use this trip to meet the captain and then come back with their friends.

FISH FRY SPECIAL - This is a good trip for families. The children will be entertained with a constant bite of seabass, grunts and sheepshead, and the adults have a chance for some grouper, kings and cobia. Perfect for November and December. Trolling will bring up grouper and you can fish for grunts and seabass to give you a nice box of fish at the end of the day. Lots of Action.

EQUIPMENT: NEW 2003 Custom designed 32' Twin Vee, twin hull boat with 12' beam, twin 250 Suzukis. This is a center console with over 300 sq. ft. of fishing room. There is a head inside the console for privacy and a t-top for shade. We added a dodger, which is a cover on the front of the boat that protects you from wind and spray during transport and can be left up for shade in the summer. It snaps down in a second if you have a large fish on and need to go around the boat. Cruising speed is approx 35+mph in good seas, even in rougher conditions the boat rides better above 20mph. No long boat rides and more fishing time. If you have never ridden in a twin hull, it will be part of the great experience of fishing with Big Bend Charters! The speed and versatility of this boat is what will make the NEW Thrills Trip exciting for 14 hours, you can fish north, south and west in one day, no limit to the area you can cover to catch that kind of variety.

TACKLE: You will fish with a variety of techniques and we have rods to cover all techniques and plenty of rods per anglers. We take our reels in for regular maintenance and repair and are currently upgrading all reels from Penns to Daiwas 4/0. We are upgrading Penn Powersticks to Ugly Sticks medium to heavy action. For the "Big Uns" we have custom made heavy action rods with 6-9/0s. Penn large saltwater spinners for AJs and other fish. Inshore we use Penn spinners and light action rods. Plenty of tackle and bait are carried on each trip. Live bait is also supplied at no additional charge, we set traps, but sometimes they are stolen and you will need to catch bait before heading offshore. We take every effort to give you as much fishing time as possible.

MATE: We have a full time mate on every offshore charter for your convenience. If you need special assistance we can have up to 2 mates and the captain works too. Great to keep everybody fishing when the bite is HOT!

WEATHER: We want you to have the best trip available. We do not believe that 6' seas will provide a very safe or fun day of fishing. Some seasoned anglers will still want to go, but we will be glad to reschedule you or refund your deposit if seas forecast and weather are predicting 4'-6'. Since some people wait 6 months and come from out of town for a Saturday charter, we do not take reservations for Sunday, if the weather is bad on Saturday and the forecast is better for Sunday, we will be happy to take you out if this fits into your schedule.

ABOUT THE CAPTAIN: He loves to fish, you may have to tell him to come in when you are ready. We try to stick to these hours but they may vary slightly, to your advantage. He likes to do a variety of techniques and catch a variety of fish, we want to be sure that you reach your goals of fishing so tell us what you like to do and we will work to accommodate you. You will never waste a day waiting for the fish to come to you, we go to the fish!
