Florida Chevy Fishing Report April 7, 2008 Steinhatchee, Fl Big Bend Charters Capt. Brian Smith -Grunts (Florida Snapper) and good sized sea bass are abundant in waters 40-45’ One hour of “YO-YO” fishing will produce enough for a fine meal for many. Bait: Squid last longer but anything will do. -Sheepshead fishing still going strong on Steinhatchee Reef. Remember they are spawning “making more sheepshead” for the years to come so be a good steward and release the big females. Bait: pieces of shrimp -Grouper are being taken in 58-65’ on live and frozen bait. Fresh cut bait is better than frozen, however. Trolling deep plugs is working. Use bright colors. Kings are starting to show up so a trace wire leader would be wise. -Amberjack are hot on some spots and hit or miss at the next. Several thirty pounders have been brought in. Bait: Lively, hand-sized live bait
